These photos are from the Coat Drive at the Grange Springs Community Center.
The Thrift Shop was very involved as we donated many boxes of coats and sweater and also staffed the event. Click image below to enlarge.
A Note from Rev. Curran:
You all did such a beautiful job making the give away at the Springs Community Center happen today. The donations were so generous! I was deeply touched by your open hearts and hard work. You treated people with such tenderness and made it a real shopping experience. The doughnuts and sleigh were a hit
We gave away over 9 thousand dollars’ worth of gift cards, I wrote two rent checks and a check for bus fare (so that a woman could see her grandchildren). We gave away more than six hundred coats, tons of toys (thank you Pixar) and hopefully a lot of good vibes.
I pray you will all continue to be blessed by a spirit of abundance- today you made the world a better place.
Rev. Curran Reichert
The church’s thrift shop is called the West Spain Thrift Shop
Located on the east side of the Church campus, the West Spain Thrift Shop is a small store that sells used articles, especially clothing, to benefit charitable organizations. For many years it has been our mission to provide low-cost goods to our neighbors, to share our fellowship with the community and to avoid adding usable items to the landfill.
Non-profits such as Meals on Wheels, Sonoma Valley Teen Center, Teen Parent Support, Sonoma Overnight Support and many more have benefited from our significant annual donations.
Our Amazing Volunteers:
We currently have 25 volunteers working 52 hours a week, led by a core team of longtime Women’s Fellowship volunteers. That’s 2340 hours of volunteer service annually from this fun loving group!
First of all we have fun and have made some wonderful friends fulfilling this service! We keep our shop filled with usable items for sale at a very low cost. We sort, price, sell and distribute excess or unwanted items to F.I.S.H. (Friends in Sonoma Helping) or Goodwill. For high end or antique items we have a consignment relationship with Sisters.
The shop draws many to our campus and provides a gathering place for regular customers who show up early, rain or shine. Reuse, Recycle! Volunteer or donate now!
Volunteers have the option of working at the West Spain Thrift Store weekly or monthly during one or more of the following timeslots. Tasks include retail, bagging, sorting, pricing, display.
